The inception - 08
March, 2000
Keeping with the trends in modern technology, Ramakrishna
Mission Institute of Culture, Calcutta, decided to go for its web-site.
Earlier, a web-site of the Institute had been prepared by Sorin Suciu,
a resident of Romania, who was in Calcutta for his research work
at the Institute.
The present web-site, an entirely new project, has been the
endeavour of the developers - Mr. Partha Sarathi Bose and Mr. Indranil Maulik, to lay stress on the activities of the
Institute in its content, along with an overview of the Ramakrishna
Movement. The same has been launched of the auspicious day of the
Birth Anniversary of Sri Ramakrishna (8th March, 2000). The website was developed under the able guidance of Swami Balabhadrananda ji Maharaj (the then Assistant Secretary of the Institute and monk in charge of the Publication Department) and Swami Chidrupananda ji Maharaj, who took active interest in the project. The WebTeam consisting of the four, continued with the blessings and good wishes of Swami Prabhananda ji Maharaj (the then Secretary of the Institute).
An added attraction of the site has been the Virtual Tour of Belur
Math, using about seventy-five photographs. This concept was conceived
and executed by the Web-team (added on 15th May, 2000) with active
assistance from Belur Math authorities. Thereafter, other photo-tours - Joyrambati-Kamarpukur and Swami Vivekananda's Ancestoral House have been introduced.
