The annual symposium on the monastic disciples of Sri Ramakrishna was held on 17 April 2012. Four speakers discussed on the life and teachings of Swamis Brahmananda, Premananda, Shivananda and Akhandananda.
Dr Priyadarsan Sensarma, Retd Head, Department of Botany, Bangabasi College, Kolkata, presented the topic History of Indian Science, Some Aspects, Some Problems on 24 April 2012 and interacted with the audience comprised of students, scientists and teachers.
Srimat Swami Smarananndaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, visited the Institute from 26 April 2012. Revered Maharaj gave initiation to the devotees and released a book.
To commemorate the 175th birth celebrations of Sri Ramakrishna, the Institute undertook a series of programmes: organizing a special lecture every month on Sri Ramakrishna throughout the year, a Special Symposium on Sri Ramakrishna, a Music Fest dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna on 12 February 2012 along publishing of a Souvenir. To mark the concluding phase of the celebrations, Srimat Swami Smarananandaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, released a book ‘Sri Ramakrishna Prasanga: Sachitra Masik Basumati Theke Grihita (1329-378)’. This book is a collection of articles on Sri Ramakrishna from a century-old historic journal ‘Basumati’.
