The Minister was attending a youth meet at the Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark, Kolkata when he declared that a Vivekananda Cup will be organized the Government of west Bengal. |

France becomes the second country after India to start the ceremonies to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. A series of events will follow, with the plaque in 2012 and culminating in 2013 with ceremonies all over France. |

The Minister of Railways, Mamata Banerjee also flagged off a special exhibition train "Vivekananda Express" showcasing the life and philosophy of the great spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda from Howrah station today. This train is a tribute from Railways on the occasion of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand. This exhibition train will cover important stations of the country, taking the message of religious harmony and unity to the masses. |
The train "Vivekananda Express" consists of two Air-Conditioned coaches in which photographs, write-ups etc. are exhibited to project the life, work and message of Swamiji. The train will also include one Air-Conditioned 3-tier coach, one power car and one second class-cum- luggage van. The coaches have been refurbished at Liluah Workshop of Eastern Railway. |

The Government of Malaysia released a postal stamp to commemorate Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth anniversary. The Swami had a brief stay in Malaysia during his visit to the West. Swami Prabhanandaji, General Secretary of the Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission released the commemorative stamp on August 2, 2011. |
On 12 January 2011, the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, inaugurated four-year long commemorative celebrations of Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth anniversary. Swami Prabhanandaji, General Secretary, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission and several other dignitaries were also present. |
